Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a client-centered approach that has been extensively researched and proven to help people heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the results of disturbing life experiences.
This approach activates one’s internal healing mechanism, thereby stimulating an innate information processing system in the brain. Scientific research has established EMDR therapy as effective for the treatment of post-traumatic stress, phobias, panic attacks, anxiety disorders, stress, sexual and physical abuse, disturbing memories, complicated grief and additions. This accelerated treatment approach (3-5 sessions), which targets past experiences, current triggers and future potential challenges, results in the alleviation of symptoms, a decrease or elimination of distress from disturbing memory, improved view of the self, relief from bodily disturbance, and resolution of present and future anticipated triggers.

It's natural to want the best for yourself and those around you, so why overlook the benefits of preventive therapy? Unfortunately, many of us only consider seeking therapy once we're in the midst of personal struggles. Like anything else in life, practice makes perfect. By removing the stigma surrounding mental health issues, you can give yourself and others the opportunity to learn how to navigate through life more comfortably, with the confidence of knowing you have the tools to overcome any potential barriers.

An emotional support animal (ESA) is a companion animal that provides comfort, support, and therapeutic benefits to individuals struggling with mental health issues or emotional challenges. These animals are prescribed by licensed mental health professionals to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other emotional disorders. Unlike service animals, ESAs do not require specialized training for specific tasks but rather offer unconditional love and companionship to their owners, helping them cope with their emotional needs. This is a service our practice offers to established clients if deemed appropriate by the therapist.
